CAD Designer

CAD Designer/Technician/Drafter Full-time or part-time, Hourly - Focus Engineering and Surveying continues to grow in both market share and the full-service offerings our employees bring to our clients. We are looking for CAD Designers/Drafters who are highly motivated, quick to learn and adapt to our methodologies and standards, and be the type of individual who is looking for a long-term career with a company that is willing to invest in their successful professional development. Prior drafting and or design experience in fields of civil engineering would be preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general CAD drafting support for licensed civil engineers and surveyors on staff.
  • Will work under the direction of a Project Manager, EIT or PE to produce construction drawings and civil engineering design and production architectural plans.
  • Assist in the design of single-family and town home site grading plans including the location of the home on the lot, and grading of the lot in relation to the home including the driveway and other elements of the property.
  • Provide updates to production architectural plans as requested by owner and prepare permit package plan submittals.
  • Work with a team and carefully track all information needed to create design deliverables from initial field survey to final construction drawing package.
  • Create design deliverables that meet municipal codes and requirements.
  • Work within our defined QA/QC review process to ensure accuracy.
  • Be our clients’ advocate to help them efficiently navigate municipality approval.

Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail, self-motivated and a team player.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or Revit with high level of proficiency in any engineering or architectural discipline is preferred.
  • Proven ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management as well as clients.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet client-imposed project deadlines.
  • May be required to perform administrative type duties as required; i.e., copying and collating plans and preparing/delivering submittals.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow company CAD drafting standards and procedures.
  • Familiarity with mapping, GIS, or Google Earth is preferred.

Field Survey Assistant Rodman

Using high accuracy instruments, construction surveyors collect and transfer data that are critical to design engineers and architects to complete precise design work and provide information for skilled workers to complete their trade work accurately. Our entry level field survey assistant/rodman/technician helps provide support for the successful completion of our projects under the direction of a field crew chief. Construction surveyors are excellent communicators, maintain professional composure under high stress, are situationally aware, have the ability to problem self effectively, are critical thinkers with "outside the box" ways to find efficient solutions to challenges, and can see the "Big Picture", which would include a long-term career path trajectory.

This important position requires incredible work ethic, endurance, hustle, critical thinking, personal initiative to learn and progress, team success mentality, and a genuine desire to provide superior service to our clients.

Required Attributes: Applicants must maintain a clean, professional appearance. Transportation MicroStation Designer

FOCUS Engineering and Surveying, LLC (FOCUS) is seeking for a MicroStation Designer to assist our Transportation Department. FOCUS is centered around three key principles, Passion for our Clients Success, Be the best at Customer Service, and our Efficiency. FOCUS is a local Engineering and Surveying company that is focused on working with Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and local City’s and Municipalities.

We are seeking a designer with experience in MicroStation and InRoads to support our Transportation projects. The ideal candidate is capable of abiding with FOCUS’s key principles. The Designer will work directly with Engineers, EITs, other Designers and our Survey Teams throughout the company. Candidates must be able to perform a variety of technical duties to assist in the design, drafting, preparation of a variety of design projects, from roadway improvements, drainage, horizontal and vertical design of projects, traffic signal improvements, signing, striping etc.

Qualifications:

  • Designer; 5 years minimum of experience performing MicroStation / InRoads and/or a 2-year degree in CADD Associates or Advanced Level Certificate.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation is required.
  • Background in InRoads SS4 are a plus
  • UDOT project experience is a plus with experience in working with UDOT standards and CADD templates.
  • Effective communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:

This position will require a teamwork environment being mentored and supervised by senior designers and engineers. The Designer will provide MicroStation / InRoads design and work in support of our design engineering team. Transportation Engineer
